In the inaugural episode of The Barefoot Mailman, I, Claudia Poblete, introduce my podcast, and myself to my friends, new and old, who may or may not listen, sharing my journey into podcasting, my love for storytelling, and my personal experiences with complex family dynamics, (particularly estrangement), pop culture and more. This podcast will reflect on growing up GenX, how it affected me as an adult, my chaotic life and how I keep it in balance, the despair that almost consumed me in the darkest days, and the hope I found amidst all the challenges life has thrown at me. I lay out in a very rudimentary fashion, my plans for future episodes looking to engage you, my friends, family, and new listeners in meaningful conversations, and to share happy news and feel good stories.

This first episode is raw and unedited because I’m a little Leeeeroy Jeeennnkiiins like that.

The Barefoot Mailman wants to deliver you the good news on the weekly, and eventually the daily. This first one is a ROUGH one, but I had to do it like this or else I would have never done it.

The one where we talk about estrangement

This episode is my introductory topical episode, and I come out of the gate swinging on a topic that’s very near and dear to my heart: parental estrangement from your adult children. I will discuss my own situation, my family history of alienation, and what I’ve done to ease the heartache.
